Co-operation

Programme interests

The SOL Foundation, as a rule, is not a dedicated project implementation organisation and will pursue its purpose mainly through supporting and working with implementing partner organisations.

The geographic area for support is basically unrestricted; the selection of initiatives geographically is based on pertinent considerations and/or relevant indices as for example the Human Development Index, the Gini Index or political and socio-political frameworks.

Projects supported by The SOL Foundation are those, which use sport to address particular and relevant issues, in line with the foundation’s purpose.

The SOL Foundation is not looking to support projects for young people that simply focus on offering sport to the community, promoting elite sport or increasing participation in sport without addressing specific social concerns or needs, such as, but not limited to, poverty, underprivileged youth, deprivation, inequality or disability.

The SOL Foundation welcomes projects that demonstrate respect for equality, human rights and democracy.

The SOL Foundation welcomes ideas for new initiatives.

Partnership

The SOL Foundation seeks to build partnerships with its partners that go beyond that of a purely financial relationship. The SOL Foundation looks for organisations that are passionate about changing people’s lives through sports and making goals and visions into shared goals and visions.

The SOL Foundation therefore also will consider supporting its implementing partners with assistance other than and additional to funding. This could take the form of capacity building, personal involvement, coaching, monitoring, offering guidance and expertise or other forms of non-financial support.

Impact, Monitoring & Evaluation

Success for The SOL Foundation means creating targeted impact for the ultimate beneficiaries of the programme. Partners of The SOL Foundation are expected to present clear processes on impact measurement of any project proposed.

The SOL Foundation monitors the progress of projects and the performance of grantees.

The SOL Foundation identifies indicators and means to evaluate output, outcome and impact. Grant instalments by The SOL Foundation will depend on satisfactory reporting and progress of projects funded. An explicit exit strategy is where appropriate part of the considerations by The SOL Foundation.
