Local partner
The partnership is focused on the following:
A) Safe-Hub South Africa:
- the Khayelitsha Academy Safe-Hub operations to provide more than 1’000 young people with daily access to the EduFootball programme, to provide the platform for job-shadowing and practical work experience for future Safe-Hub teams and to test and develop innovations and improvements for the EduFootball programme and
- continue to support the Safe-Hub Academy to provide training, support and quality assurance services to all operational Safe-Hubs, to support the set-up and development of new Safe-Hub sites, to drive the innovation and further development of the EduFootball programme and to continue to improve and maintain the digital training and learning management system.
B) Safe-Hub Germany:
- to establish basic Academy structures in Berlin to implement regular Train-the-Trainer workshops to train and upskill football coaches, teachers, social workers and volunteers in the EduFootball methodology. The ultimate aim is to integrate social competencies and values-based coaching in existing structures (sports clubs, schools, NGOs, community initiatives) to enhance the positive social impact of existing after-school programmes.
Beneficiaries
The project reaches a diversity of beneficiaries in South Africa as well as in Germany, e.g. young people from slum backgrounds in South Africa with daily access to a Safe-Hub of holistic learning and personal development through fun, football-based, regular and structured after-school programmes or young people from disadvantaged communities and/or refugee background in Germany with access to holistic coaching and support developing their social competencies and core values.
SOL’s contribution
The SOL Foundation and Amandla have been partners since 2017. The continued support from The SOL Foundation is seen as critical enabler to establish at least 15 Safe-Hubs in South African disadvantaged communities. Thus providing thousands of children and young people with direct and indirect access to holistic education and support in a safe environment.
