Sehyog Sports Development and Women Empowerment Society (2022)
In brief
Problem to be tackled
Wellbeing, gender equality, access to sports, to inform the parents of girls the benefits, physical and phycological devolvement of girls who participate in sports programme.
Local partner
The project activities include physical work, running, the participations in various tournaments, hygiene education, nursing education, to educate traffic rules or about the right to vote – all through football, to make the participants physically fitter and mentally more alert. Through practice the beneficiaries become more disciplined, and develop skills that make them better players, and noticing their own improvement in the quality of their play is then associated with their own self-image, learning that their success is in their own hand. This self-confidence, the belief and proof that you can do it, becomes part of who they are.
Beneficiaries
The initiative is basically open to all the girls in the nearby schools, villages and there is no upper limit on the numbers who can attend; 90% of the girls are from very poor economic background struggling with basic daily nutrition.
SOL’s contribution
With a continued support from The SOL Foundation, Sehyog Sports Development and Women Empowerment Society will be able to further implement the existing annual sport programme with the main focus on promoting equal opportunity for girls and young women.
